Discussion groups and listservs are a wonderful way for professionals to stay in contact and share opinions and information on current events and specialized topics. Below is a list of groups that currently host discussion groups and instructions on how you can join in on their conversations. Descriptions shown are taken from organizational websites or have been provided by the organizational leadership.
Before subscribing, please note that each discussion group has its own policies and rules in terms of what is appropriate to post. As a general rule of thumb, discussion groups are not intended for commercial advertising purposes. In addition, topics brought to a group should be relevant to the group's focus. Finally, if you don't like receiving multiple emails every day from a group, some discussion listservs have an option for users to sign up for a digest version. With a digest version, subscribers only receive a single email from the group on a daily or weekly basis that includes all of the comments made by members over that day or week. To find out if group has a digest option, and what the exact rules are for posting to a discussion listserv, you should contact the discussion group moderator with your questions.
If you are currently part of a group that would like to create a discussion listserv for your members, Google Groups, and Yahoo Groups offer free listserv services. If you would like your group discussion subscription information listed on this page please contact us.
